RECORDS
Ckay’s Love Nwantiti went platinum in the Uk with over 600k units sold. The song becomes the first Afrobeats record to go platinum in the United Kingdom. The song also became the Longest charting number one record on the Portugal music chart displacing the 33 years old record of the international global hit “ Despacito”
Wizkid Made in Lagos album also broke records as it became the longest charting African album on the Billboard World Albums Chart at 67 weeks breaking the 27 year old record held by Cesaria Evora’s “CESARIA” at 66 weeks .
ALBUMS
Adekunle Gold Released his fourth studio album titled “Catch Me If You Can” with a Stellar Feature list of Davido, TyDollaSign, Lucky Daye and a couple others. The album was released on the 4th of February to critical acclaim. Songs like High, More Than Enough, One Woman and Mercy are doing well on the Charts.
Basket mouth dropped his Sophomore album “Horoscope” on the eleventh day of February to critical acclaim also. The album produced exclusively by DuktokSett is packed with guest features from Peruzzi, Wande Coal, Falz , Dremo, Oxlade, Mi Abaga, Simi, Johnny Drille , Efya, Cavemen, Reekado Banks and other stars.
Music maestro, Asa also dropped her fourth studio album “V” on February 25 to critical acclaim. The album produced entirely by rising producer genius P-Prime features Wizkid, Cavemen and Amaarae.

A couple of events that held in February includes Wande Coal Urban Live Sessions, Made Kuti Show at the African Shrine and Brainee Yaba State of Mind Listening Party.
VIDEOS
Some topnotch videos were released this month. Some of the videos include the TG OMori directed Olamide ft Wande Coal “Hate Me” and Asake ft Olamide “Omo Olope” Video.
Zinoleesky also released a video for his single “Rocking“. Laycon dropped the visuals to his single “New Dimension“ and Asa also dropped a spanking MEJI Alabi directed video to “Ocean” off her album “V”. Director K also did amazing work on Rema’s “Calm Down” Video.
CELEBRITY GIST
Major celebrity scandals did not occur in February. Davido got a deal with PUMA and as been actively promoting the brand though his gym sessions. Burna Boy also inked a deal with Calvin Klein and Tems with Reebok.
Oxlade got embroiled in a Sextape Scandal that trended for days after his Snapchat was hacked. The video generated mixed reactions on social media with several comparisons to the Tiwa Savage .
Portable aka “Idamu adugbo” also got in the news a lot. Fighting with his promoters, bodyshaming Kenyan girls at a show in Kenya, fighting with a wannable impersonator among other things.
All in all, it was indeed an eventful February for The Nigerian Music Industry in 2022.
