Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, is a multi-award-winning singer and composer from Nigeria who recently worked with legendary American diva Rihanna on a new project.
The latest in the new-age global star’s rapid ascent to the top of the international music scene is credit as a songwriter on the Rihanna song “Lift Me Up” for the Black Panther movie.
Tems collaborated on the song’s writing with Rihanna, Oscar winner Ludwig Gorranson, Ryan Coogler, and other notable writers. The song will serve as the theme song for the mega-hit “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” film from Marvel. On October 28, 2022, the song—which was written as a homage to Chadwick Boseman’s life and work—was made public.
On Friday, October 28th, 2022, Tems expressed her gratitude for having composed the song on her Instagram profile. She penned:
Blessed to have written this song in honour of Chadwick Boseman and even more blessed to hear the baddest @badgalriri voice it to perfection🕊✨
